This course is intended for students interested in becoming a Medical Front Office/Medical Receptionist, sometimes called the Intake Coordinator. This class will ensure students are prepared to begin a rewarding career and to become an integral part of the medical office team. Topics covered include Basic Medical Terms and Plans, Eligibility and Insurance Benefits Verification, Appointment Scheduling (Manual and Computerized), Improving Telephone Skills, Patient Arrival, Check-in and Departure, Handling Medical/Office Forms, HIPAA/Patient Privacy and confidentiality and Medical Terminology (specific to the front office).
